Anthro / Digital Media / Painting & Airbrushing

At last, I can upload something to the digital painting category without feeling guilty. XD

This is an icon for Ares (*Vahilor) of an anthro German shepherd dog. Dogs are said to be the holy animals of Ares, hence the choice. He's wearing what was meant to be a Greek helmet, but I took extreme creative liberties. So I am aware that it is probably not historically accurate in any way... but it was fun to paint. The idea here is that he's standing on a misty pre-dawn battlefield looking hardcore and manly. Dogly. Whatever.

I was aiming to paint brass or copper, but it ended up looking more like gold than anything else. I used a very vague reference for the metal. I kind of looked at this pic of a copper helmet twice and decided it was too complicated and then winged it.

Normally I don't put this much effort into trade icons, but I felt like painting something for a change. My creative drive has been extremely low so whenever a wave pops up, I ride it. I also livestreamed the process, and that also really helped to motivate me to work.
