This work is for my brother's 28th birthday. It was done in gouache, water colour and Prismacolor pencils on 300gsm wet media paper.

Sadly, the high grammage of the textured paper caused it to scan funny. The paper doesn't look anywhere NEAR as textured irl. It also lost a lot of its very subtle blues and greens in the digitizing process, making the contrast look off.

I was aiming for a historical type feel here, like the drawings you'd find in 19th Century naturalist texts. It was my first try at this style. I think it was partly successful.

Anyway.. enjoy!

wow, this is beautiful! It reminds me of one of those crosses between a zebra and a donkey (Zonkey) xD

Thank you ^^ Well, there is speculation that the quagga was something similar, but I'm not sure about that fact. :B
